NOTICE OF
APPLICATION FOR ISSUANCE OF A CERTIFICATE OF PUBLIC CONVENIENCE AND NECESSITY BY CENTRAL
WATER CO., INC.
On August 19, 1999, Central Water Company, Inc. ("Central " or
"Company"), submitted its application to the State Corporation Commission for
the issuance of a certificate of public convenience and necessity to provide water utility
service to customers in and around the Amsterdam District, Botetourt County, Virginia. The
Commission has docketed the application and assigned it Case No. PUE990593. The Company
proposes to charge $15 per month for its services to residential customers for any part of
their first 3,000 gallons of usage. The rate of $4 per 1,000 gallon for any additional
usage is proposed. It further proposes to charge $750, plus taxes, for service connection
fees for inch lines and an additional $250, plus taxes, per þ inch for larger
connections. The Commission, by order, has permitted Central to implement these rates and
fees, subject to refund with interest following an investigation of the application.
